European X

‘Mondrian’ de 2018 production of European X

Piet Mondrian, a Dutch painter who lived from 1872-1944, is regarded as one of the best-
known and important painters of the twentieth century. Mondrian is a source of inspiration to
many throughout art, architecture, and design still in the present day.
European X will be telling the story of growth and transformation in art and the artist as society
changes. This is best exemplified through Piet Mondrian’s life, an artist that started with
normal, basic standards and moved on to create his own style, that of which was not accepted
in society at first.

De production of European X can be seen at our 'Try out' and a few events of Colorguard Nederland (CGN):
18 February 2018: 'Try-out' 3pm-4pm Sporthal Almere Buiten
24 February 2018: International Contest Almere
10 March 2018: Contest Leeuwarden

Four American Staff Members To Join European X Staff for 2017

Rhythm X, Inc., European X, and the IMP Foundation are proud to announce another class of incredible American staff members will be working in residence with European X in 2017. This tradition of cooperation has extended for years. Each year Rhythm X and other American staffers move to The Netherlands for several months to guide the program and bring the best in US marching percussion to the European stage.

This year the PIO ensemble will be under the guidance and direction of Rhythm X Percussion alumni Frankie Cummings (#274), TJ Ghinder (#279), Nick Jesus (#302), and Michael Tant (#311). Frank and Mike will be working with the battery and show design, while collaborating closely with Nick Jesus and TJ Ghinder in the front ensemble. Frank and Nick will serve as the Battery Coordinator and Front Ensemble Coordinator respectively.

These four staff members represent the best in US marching percussion educators. All four instructors performed in Rhythm X's most recent WGI Percussion World Championship and have teaching experience in some of the finest independent and scholastic marching percussion organizations in the world. The crew will head to European X's home in Hilversum, Netherlands in January and remain with the ensemble until the IPE Championships in April. Prior to their arrival, Rhythm X, Inc. representatives Tom Gasparrini (#239) and Rhythm X, Inc. CEO Mike Scott (#259) will travel to the European X Audition Clinics on October 8th and 9th. This is the second year US representatives have visited the annual event of The X Academy in The Netherlands. Not coincidentally, American Mike Bishop (#176) visited European X last week for a keyboard percussion clinic.

Back here in the States, it was also a big weekend for the Dragons Drumline with the Dragons Drumline Audition Clinic presented by The X Academy at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio. Dozens of students from Dayton and Cincinnati came out to participate in the audition clinics with the hope of being a part of the best minor league baseball drumline in the area, and to learn from world-class instructors. Students spent the day playing several exercises and cadences and receiving feedback from Dragons Drumline Director Zac Jansheski and Rhythm X clinicians Jared Kortz and Alex McIntosh. Heater - the team mascot -  even stopped by to join in the fun! Contracted members will attend a signing event this upcoming Wednesday with the Dragons Drumline at Fifth Third Field.

European X and Rhythm X, Inc. Form Strategic Partnership

The organizations will share a marketing team and The X Academy.

Today we're tremendously excited to announce an official partnership between Rhythm X, Inc. and European X, an indoor percussion ensemble founded by the IMP Foundation in 2009. European X and Rhythm X have shared a working relationship over the past seven years. Craig Dunn, the organization's founder has worked closely with both groups, and each year Rhythm X staff members travel to the Netherlands to help with the design and instruction of the European X show. This week the organizations formed an official Strategic Partnership that will more closely align the organizations and officially turn the Rhythm X brand into a worldwide project.

“Since our founding, European X has shared a common vision with our American counterpoint. We are excited to officially join forces with Rhythm X, Inc. and work toward our common goals together,” said Michel ten Brummelhuis, Staff Coordinator and Board Secretary of the IMP Foundation.

The new partnership will keep each organization independent from one another, although they will now share a website and marketing team. European X will continue to draw instructional and design staff from Rhythm X, and the organizations will now work more closely on strategic development and cooperative projects. Notably, this partnership extends the scope of The X Academy to Europe. All European X audition and community clinics will be hosted by The X Academy, Rhythm X, Inc.'s newest educational program.

“We’ve always been proud of our friendship with European X. It has been great to see so many Rhythm X alumni and staff members travel to the Netherlands,” said Mike Scott, CEO of Rhythm X, Inc. “Making this partnership official has been a long time coming. I’m thrilled to be joining forces and making the X vision strong on multiple continents!”

Earlier this year, European X announced plans to attend the 2016 WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH. Just over one year from now the X family will have three ensembles at the WGI World Championships, including European X and our new WGI Winds ensemble
