Not auditioning this year? Simply buy the audition packet and play what we're playing! The X22 Audition Packet includes all of the material the X22 battery and front ensemble will play to develop their technique.
Note: for all sections except cymbals, this is the same packet we released in the fall of 2020. Cymbals have an updated piece of music to prepare a visual phrase to. The packet now also includes a link to the Seavine Cymbal Education videos for demonstration of the technique and visual program.

What is the cost to audition?
The audition fee is $115 and includes
two clinics, registration, packet, and a T-shirt.
What is the age out this year?
As per WGI stipulations, performers shall not be over 24 years of age as of 12:01 AM on April 1, 2022.
I auditioned last fall (virtually). Do I have to pay the audition fee again?

Can I audition even if I don’t live near Rhythm X?
Yes! We encourage individuals from across the country (or globe!) to participate in our auditions. While Rhythm X mainly practices and performs in the Midwest, every year we have members from around the country. If you earn a spot, you’ll have to make arrangements to move to Ohio or drive/carpool if you live within driving distance.

Where It All Began
In 2002 the Rhythm X, Inc. organization began as a small community percussion ensemble for high school students in the Columbus area. The ensemble quickly rose to success - winning the Percussion Independent Open Championship in its first year, and immediately entering the Percussion World Class.
The ensemble has seen many successes, and contributed to the design language of the WGI activity as a whole. In 2008 the ensemble won its first-ever World Class Championship, a feat it repeated in 2009 and 2013. The ensemble has earned a medal in nine of its fourteen seasons of World Class competition.
In 2013, Rhythm X, Inc. began a campaign to grow beyond its beginnings as an indoor drumline. The organization has taken its educational and design knowledge and expanded to three WGI ensembles including the first-ever WGI Winds world champion, and a PIO ensemble operating near Amsterdam, Netherlands and open to students all across Europe. The organization brings its educational influence to thousands of students across the globe through The X Academy - a educational clinic series.
