Greetings, Rhythm X alumni!

Whether you are a recent age-out or an alumnus from the early years of X, I want to express my appreciation that you've chosen to re-engage with us. This first newsletter is reaching over 400 alumni and represents the start of a new era of connection with our history. We are passionate about keeping you informed through this ongoing newsletter, and we are planning additional activities to connect you with other alumni and our current staff and membership! I realize that Rhythm X hasn't always done a good job keeping in touch with our alumni, but this 2026 season is a fresh start and the beginning of an exciting chapter.

As I begin my 3rd season as Executive Director, I realize there are likely many alumni I've not met, so I want to introduce myself! I'm a former member of the X Pit, having played vibraphone and glock from 2015-2018. I joined the administrative team in 2020 and took on the role of Director starting with the 2024 season. I'm married to another X number, cymbal instructor Alex, and reside in Cincinnati, working for a market research company by day and leading Rhythm X on my nights and weekends.

We just wrapped up auditions for the 2026 season. Though the members change each year, the emotions of auditions remain the same - the anticipation, heartbreak, and elation of making Rhythm X, emotions familiar I'm sure many of us can recall! One newly contracted member said to me, "I feel like I'm in a dream!". How well that sentence captures the Rhythm X experience - and making that dream come true is what fuels the staff and I, year after year.

This year we are welcoming 30 new members and have 26 veteran members returning. Members are joining us from faraway states like New York, Florida, Utah, and Massachusetts. I'm proud that Rhythm X's legacy of excellence makes us a destination for the most talented musicians and performers across the country. Our design team and staff are hard at work with preparations for the season as the first rehearsal approaches in late November.

I'm excited to bring you along for the journey this season - thanks for being here!
