Ted Smith

Ted is an inaugural member of Rhythm X and a member of its Board of Directors, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the marching arts community. A passionate advocate for percussion performance and education, he has remained deeply committed to the growth and evolution of the activity. His longstanding connection to Rhythm X reflects both a respect for its legacy and a dedication to helping shape its future through thoughtful leadership and service. Ted is also a former member of Capital Regiment, where he received a silver medal in what is now considered open class, and also performed at what is now the world class level in Drum Corps International.

Ted has also served on the Board of Directors for the Mid East Performance Association since 2019, supporting the continued development and sustainability of the marching arts at a regional level. He has worked with and instructed numerous high school programs throughout Central Ohio, mentoring students and contributing to the success of developing ensembles. Outside of the marching arts, Ted serves as a law enforcement supervisor, where he demonstrates a strong commitment to leadership, accountability, and public service—values that carry into his work within the performing arts community.
